Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice. Philippians 4:4

Rejoicing in the Lord is an expression of gratitude to God. There is always much to be grateful to God for. Choosing to focus on His mercy, love, and gifts to us softens the stress we feel from our painful times. It strengthens us and gives us courage and resilience.

Reading psalms as a form of prayer sometimes helps me move towards gratefulness that I am choosing without feeling. Walking in nature reminds me of the beauty that God surrounds me with. Making something delicious for my family perks me up and shows love for them in a practical way. These are simple things that help me rejoice in the Lord.
